A MINEHEAD business has won a national competition and prize advice from one of the UK's leading entrepreneurs, Duncan Bannatyne. Andrew and Rosslyn Hadley, owners of Corner House Stores in Minehead, won the Get Your Business in Mint Condition competition run in association with Wrigley and retail trade magazine Convenience Store. Andrew and Rosslyn were chosen from numerous retailers competing for a chance to win expert advice from Duncan, who owns a string of businesses including hotels and casinos. He also presents his own series, Mind Your Own Business, on BBC1. Entrants were asked to state succinctly how they would like to develop their business, detailing the current challenges they face and outlining how they would benefit from Duncan's advice. He grilled would-be entrepreneurs in the BBC2 series Dragon's Den, a second series of which is being broadcast in September. Andrew and Rosslyn have been running the independent convenience store since December 2003 and were looking for advice on how to build on its success. Duncan spent half a day with the winners to go through their business issues and discussed the pros and cons of expanding their existing outlet against buying a second store. "We were thrilled to be chosen as the winners of Get Your Business in Mint Condition," said Andrew. "We knew we wanted to build our business but didn't know exactly how to do it, so Duncan's advice was extremely beneficial. "We now need to weigh up which ideas we will put into action to help us improve the service we provide to our customers." Jo Hartop, head of communications at Wrigley said: "The entries we received were first class and gave us a real insight into the issues retailers are currently facing. "Andrew and Rosslyn Hadley are truly deserving winners and we wish them many congratulations and every success with Corner House Stores in the future."
