ON a day when the bat dominated the ball Minehead lost by six wickets to Chew Magna, even though they hit over 200 runs.
Once again having lost the toss and been asked to bat Minehead quickly lost two wickets with only 10 runs on the board to quickie Graham Coutts, who eventually bowled his 15 overs for 48 runs and claiming four wickets.
Then a partnership of 150 between David Lethaby (76) and Geoff Murrell (91) restored the balance and with some quick runs by the middle order batsmen enabled Minehead to finish their 45 overs with 209 for 5.
In reply, Minehead contained Chew Magna and reduced them to 65-3 by the 20th over but Paul King (63) and skipper Alan Whitcombe (77 no) batted sensibly and steered Chew Magna home by the 42nd over.
