TIMBERSCOMBE Cooks! – an illustrated collection of recipes – is to be unveiled at a tasting day on Saturday (October 26).

The recipes, along with photographs of local people and village events, were passed on to a team of volunteers who used them to create a flexibly-bound book.

The project follows a successful National Lottery Heritage Fund application by St Petrock’s PCC at the end of last year.

It was awarded to repair and replace sections of the church roof, but part of the grant was to encourage community heritage participation.

A limited edition of 100 copies of Timberscombe Cooks! will be on sale, at £8, during the launch from 1pm to 2pm in Timberscombe Village Hall when there will also be free tastings of a selection of recipes from the book.

All profits will go to support the final leg of fundraising needed to move ahead with plans to introduce a toilet and servery for community use in 2020.

PCC member Marion Jeffrey said: “The friendly co-operation of everyone involved to create this unique glimpse into the cookery lives of our community was a positive affirmation of what a small rural community has to celebrate in its midst. We are all delighted with the result and keen to buy our copy!”
