Since the West Somerset Free Press featured the recycling project at Old Cleeve First School, I’m pleased to report that I received a great response from people wanting to join in and help.

The school’s Eco-Club has been busy sorting through bags dropped off at school and thousands of crisp packets and other items have been sent away to be turned into new products.

Here is a full list of items that we collect under the ‘TerraCycle’ scheme: All brands of crisp packets and multipack outer bags; all brands of biscuit wrappers; Pringles-style tubes, seals and lids; bread wrappers; toothbrush tubes, caps, toothbrushes and packaging; pet food foil pouches and snack bags; pens including ball point, felt tip, highlighters, fountain, ink pen cartridges and correction fluid bottles and lids.

The Eco-Club is currently looking at ways the school can reduce its use of plastic and aim to end the use of single use plastics by the end of the school year.

Anyone who would like more information about the recycling scheme can contact me on 07927 798191 or email me at [email protected]
