A CHIMNEY fire in Water Lane, Stogumber, spread to the floorboards and a beam leaving the property with 15 per cent smoke damage just after 10am today (Monday, January 23).

Fire engines from Williton and Nether Stowey were at the scene. Crews extinguished the fire from the hearth and log burner using a hose reel jet with a thatching lance and a light portable pump using water from an open source.

Fire damage was caused to the beam and fire place.
