THE A39 was closed in both directions near East Quantoxhead after two cars were involved in a collision this morning (October 31).

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 7.45am, where the road was closed to allow the vehicles involved to be recovered.

This comes after a hatchback was found on its roof and was blocking the road for other motorists.

No serious injuries were reported as a result of the incident, and the road would go on to be partially reopened by 9.30am. The road has since been fully reopened.

A spokesperson from Avon and Somerset Police said: “We were called at 7.46am to reports of a two-car collision on the A39 near East Quantoxhead.

“Officers are at the scene and have closed the road while the vehicles are recovered.

“No serious injuries have been reported.”

A spokesperson from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called at 7.45am to Higher Street, where a hatchback car was on its roof, blocking the road, after a two-vehicle road traffic collision.

“We sent two appliances. Everyone was clear of the vehicles on our arrival, but three casualties were treated by paramedics. Firefighters made the vehicles safe and helped clear up debris.

“The road was partially reopened at 9.30am.”
