THE A358 at Crowcombe was closed for several hours during the afternoon rush-hour yesterday (May 30) after a car crashed into a tree.

Two occupants of the vehicle were taken by ambulance to Musgrove Park Hospital after being treated on the scene but were not thought to be seriously injured. No other vehicle was involved.

A rescue crew from Williton made the vehicle safe and used an environmental pack to clear a spill on the road.

Traffic was gridlocked for up to half a mile near the Round Pool Lane junction and police advised drivers to find alternative routes.
