A CAR was completely destroyed by fire in Higher Park, Minehead, at 8.30am today.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service sent one fire engine from the town and the incident commander confirmed that the car was well alight on the public highway.

The crew got to work using breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. 

It is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault.
