THIS week saw another Thursday evening west Somerset league game, with the B team travailing to Victoria Park in Bridgwater. A tough game with Williton only winning on one rink but winning that rink by enough to snatch the win overall. 53-51 and 8-4 to the B team.

The A team didn’t have the same outcome, winning on only one rink but this time losing overall 58-44 and 10-2 on points.

Friday, May 24, saw the Williton four of Ian Hayes, Phil Ash, Derek Sully and Callum Harrod back in action in the next round of the county fours. Twice being seven shots down but fighting back to beat a very strong team from Ilminster 20-13 to progress to the quarter final.

Ian Hayes has progressed through a very close first round of the National champion of champions, 21-18, to set up an all-Williton next round when he faces Phil Ash.

Congratulations to both Elaine Amery, who has again been selected to represent Somerset in both the Walker Cup and the Johns Trophy, and to Callum Harrod who for the first time has been selected in the Somerset Middleton Cup squad.

Monday, May 27, saw Williton ladies host Watchet and Minehead ladies in the Evelyn Yandel but unfortunately didn’t win.
