OAKE Manor Golf Club's Captain Charles St George, Ladies Captain Liz How and Seniors Captain Gary Jackson, have held their ‘Drive In.’

Luckily, a break in the weather gave a mainly dry day when 200 intrepid golfers, the largest number ever in Oake Manor’s 30 year history, played in the Drive In Competition. This was incredible number considering that there was an electric trolley and buggy ban due to the very wet condition of the course. It has been a tough year for the greenskeepers who have had to battle against the elements, particularly constant rain which has made some greens impossible to play on - and competitions have been called off.

There were two shot gun starts with half the players starting at 8.00 and the remaining 100 golfers teeing off at 1.00pm. Meanwhile, the three captains successfully held the official Drive In at 12.30 to many jeers and cheers from the large supporting crowd.

The winning team of the 4 Ball Bowmaker Competition, 2 scores to count, were Colin Dyke, Jeremy Winter, James Macey and Steve Barham with a superb score of 94 points. The full results will be published next week.
