THE Watchet and District Skittles League have staged the semi-finals and final of the annual pairs competition at the White Horse, Washford.

In the first semi-final between the Phoenix Knights' pair Chris Pople and Adam Bishop and Dark Horses' Tony Cornish and Phil Trunks, the deciding moment came on the tenth hand with Trunks hitting a 15 spare to see them into the final by 14 pins.

In the second semi Q C Guys' Ian Parbery hit nothing less than an eight in the first half that included two 17 spares for a half time score of 68. He added another 17 to finish with 128 and although Bell All Stars Adam Taplin managed a couple of spares Guys pair won through by six pins.

The final saw Parbery start off with two 15 spares to see them with a 19 pin lead at the break. The Dark Horses' pair never got going and with a further 16 and 17 spares from Parbery in the second half and he finished again with 128 ably supported by Clive Norman to run out winners by 28 pins.

Meanwhile, the league are looking for more teams for the forthcoming winter.
