THE final of Watchet Skittles League’s Landlords Cup brought together league winners Williton Club and runners up Wyndham Pinheads at Watchet Football Club New alley, writes Alan Bulpin.
However, there was to be no Houdini act performed by the club side this week as they were soundly defeated by an enthusiastic Pinheads’ side.
The first half saw Pinheads outscore the club side by four spares to one, giving them a healthy 18 pin advantage at the break. Spares from Keith Jones and Robbie Whitehead straight after half time saw them increase their stranglehold on the match to 37 pins.
With the club side not making the most of their spare chances, converting only one during the whole of the match, Robbie Whitehead with two further spares and Sam Towells one, Pinheads ran out convincing 62-pin winners to retain the Landlords Cup.
Sam Towells topped the alley with 118 for Pinheads while Alan Bland led the club’s scoring with 95.
