MINEHEAD Barbarians Under 14s and Under 11s were both in rugby action against Taunton on Sunday.

The Under 14s produced a brilliant home performance to beat a strong Taunton side 29-12. Under the leadership of captain Arthur Gell, the team showed discipline, creativity, and determination across the pitch. The Barbarians combined solid defence with some excellent attacking rugby, resulting in a well-earned victory.

Ed White scored two tries and was named as Gladiator of the Match, for showing real grit and commitment throughout. Harry Tucker was named Barbarian of the Match for his relentless work rate and impact in both attack and defence.

The other tries were scored by Billy Haller, Jesse Bruce and Arthur Gell while Finlay Penny kicked three conversions

The Barbarians Under 11s travelled to Taunton to take part in a triangular match with Taunton fielding two sides and Somerton fielding one.

Their first game was against Taunton with Minehead starting strong with some great support play tackling rucking which in turn produced five tries to Taunton’s two.

The second game was against Somerton and again the young Barbarians team work produced some exciting rugby, everyone playing their part which led to another win for Minehead 4 tries- 2.

The third game saw the U11s playing the remaining Taunton side with Minehead fielding some new players who all stepped up and played their part. The U11s stayed strong and with fierce tackling, and aggressive rucking they were able to score five quality tries. Minehead’s defensive play proved too much for Taunton who were only able to score two tries.

This was a great morning of rugby for the Barbarians Under 11s at the end of which they were all smiling along with their watching parents.

The Gladiator of the Day was Harrison Mayne. The Barbarian of the Day was Ronnie Harris.
