MINEHEAD Barbarians will be looking to keep up the pressure at the top of Counties Two Somerset when they play away to struggling Rebels Rugby in a West Somerset rugby derby on Saturday, January 24 (2.30p.m.).

The Milverton-based Rebels are bottom of the table, having won only two of their 12 matches and are seven points adrift of the next placed side Chew Valley.

Minehead, however, are lying third after their home win over Castle Cary last weekend and are six points behind second-placed Burnham on Sea, both sides having played the same number of games.

The crucial match of the day is at Burnham where the home side play Clevedon in a top of the table clash.

Fixtures: Keynsham v Oldfield Old Boys, Rebels Rugby v Minehead Barbarians, St Bernadettes Old Boys v Chew Valley, Avon v Imperial, Burnham on Sea v CLevedon, Castle Cary v Hornets.

Meanwhile Minehead Barbarians 2nd XV, who received a walkover from Hornets IV in Counties Four Somerset South last weekend, are without a fixture until they play away to Wincanton on Saturday, January 31.

Minehead’s second string are lying fifth in the division, and have games in hand on two of the four teams above them.

The leaders are Burnham on Sea who have a six-point lead over second-placed Morganians who have two matches in hand and have lost only once this season.

Somerton and Weston super Mare are also above Minehead who still have eight more games to play before the season ends.

The Babas’ fixture away to Wincanton is the only match in their division to be played on Saturday, January 31.
