MINEHEAD Barbarians will look to end their three-match sequence without a Counties Two Somerset win when they host St Bernadettes Old Boys this Saturday.

Head coach Mick Orton was forced to field a depleted side against Avon on Saturday but the players he had available put up a spirited fight against strong opponents, losing 24-7 after an encouraging second half performance.

With captain Joel Lynch out injured for the rest of the reason and vice-captain Jacob Gower a doubt after suffering a knock at the recent outing at Weston, the Babas will be far from full strength for the Old Boys’ visit but Orton will have Jordan Hole available again in midfield and Craig Coleman who came off the bench as a second half replacement against Avon for only his second game since returning to the sport.

With Saturday’s visitors in ninth place with five wins and 12 defeats in the 17 outings the Babas will be eager to secure a morale-boosting win.

Minehead 2nd XV are also in action on Saturday when they visit third placed Martock who are one place below them in Counties Four Somerset South.

Wiveliscombe’s first team are back in action in Counties One Western West tomorrow when they play at Bideford, and will be chasing a season’s double, having won 21-17 at home against the North Devon side early in November, whilst Wivey’s 2nd XV host their Burnham-on-Sea counterparts.
