TWO of Somerset's young guns James Rew and Kasey Aldridge have been named in the England Lions' squad to fly out to India early next month to take part in a month long red ball tour.
The Lions will be based in Ahmedbad for the whole time and will play India A in three four-day matches. To kick off the tour the two teams will play a two day warm up match.
Both Rew and Aldridge are products of the Somerset Academy and have enjoyed a successful summer playing in the county championship for the Cidermen.
Rew, who is still only 19 years old, scored five centuries including a best of 221 and was the first player in the top division to pass 1000 runs, in addition to which he kept wicket in the championship.
Aldridge, who will celebrate his 23rd birthday on Christmas Eve, is an all rounder who in 2023 played in eight matches and hit 451 runs including an unbeaten 101, and three half centuries to end with an average of 41, while with the ball he took 16 wickets at an average of 47.37 with a best of four for 36.
