MINEHEAD Reserves gained a comfortable 4-0 away victory over Wyvern in their last league match of the season in the first division of the Taunton Saturday Football League - in what turned out to be a niggly game.

Minehead started the brighter of the two sides and they soon took control of the busy midfield where Dan Vickers, Harvey Wright, Sam Heath and Olly Prescott were excellent throughout the afternoon.

The deadlock was broken as early as the tenth minute when Cam March fired home after a fine move to give the visitors a well deserved lead. Oli Jones almost doubled Minehead's lead but his powerful shot was well saved by the Wyvern keeper. Minehead controlled all areas of the pitch and they scored their second in the 16th minute when Wright finished off well from just inside the box.

Wyvern tried to push forward but found Minehead keeper “Vinnie”Jones in form with two fine saves, one by his feet and the other a tip over. Torren Eldridge, Luke Heath, Charlie Disney and the young Harvey Lovell all coped well at the back and made it difficult for theWyvern defence.  In the second half, Minehead brought on fresh legs in all positions, Josh Bruford up top, Bart Kubaczewski in midfield on debut at this level and Lewis Norman in defence and the transition was seamless.

A third goal was added when Bruford burst forward and slotted home from a tight angle. Wyvern tried to get a foot in the game, but their best chance was cleared off the line by Vickers. Numerous chances fell to Bruford, Prescott and Sam Heath but it was March again who added his second and Minehead's fourth of the afternoon to complete a fine season, their best in history.  Meanwhile, the season is far from over for Minehead Reserves who are still in two cup competitions with the final of the West Somerset Bowl against Redgate on Thursday, April 27, at Middlezoy FC. This is likely to be a close game between two sides who play in the first division of the local Saturday League. Man of the match: Harvey Lovell. Minehead: ‘Vinnie’ Jones”, Torren Eldridge, Luke Heath, Harvey Lovell, Charlie Disney, Dan Vickers, Olly Prescott, Harvey Wright, Sam Heath, Cam March, Oli Jones, Subs:- Lewis Norman, Bart Kubaczewski, Josh Bruford.
