MINEHEAD Barbarians will be chasing their third successive rugby win in Counties Two Somerset when they play at home to Rebels Rugby on Saturday, October 11 (3p.m.).

After losing their opening match of the season heavily at Burnham on Sea, Minehead have come good under new New Zealand coach Isaiah Graham-Hooper with victories over Avon and Castle Cary.

Minehead are lying sixth in the table which is headed by Clevedon who have a 100 per cent record, while Rebels Rugby are eighth.

Minehead 2nd XV, who have won their opening two matches, play away to North Petherton 3rd XV in Counties Four Somerset South. Petherton have won one of their three games.

Meanwhile, Minehead's footballers will be looking to bounce back after a surprise 2-0 home defeat against Burnham United in the Somerset Senior Cup when they play away to Imperial in the first division of the Uhlsport Somerset County League on Saturday. It should be a close match with both teams having similar records in the division. Imperial have won four of their seven games, while unpredictable Minehead have won three of their league matches.

Watchet Town, who forfeited their away tie against Combe St Nicholas in the Senior Cup last weekend, are due to play at home to Clevedon United in the Premier Division of the Uhlsport Somerset County League (3p.m.).

"Hopefully, we will be able to fulfil the fixture, " said Watchet's manager Nick Sully whose side has struggled for numbers since the start of the new season.

Watchet have yet to pick up a point and face a team who beat them 9-0 at home in the Premier & First Division Cup last month.

There is a full programme of matches in the Taunton & District Saturday, Somerset Sunday and Taunton Youth Leagues this weekend with local teams in action in all three leagues.
