Minehead started off strongly in their latest league game against Taunton Vale 5ths. They were on the offensive right from the beginning with calculated attacks to infiltrate Taunton’s defence.

Final score

Minehead 6: Taunton Vale 0

Eventually Minehead opened the scoring in the 14th minute from a long corner – taken by Sarah Hayes – which was driven into the net by Amy Tisshaw. Due to an injury for their usual goalkeeper Janice Weetch, striker Hannah Sparks took the wheel preventing all Taunton shots from reaching the goal and providing many words of encouragement to the team.

The defensive line of Sue Garwood, Tracey Bailey, Charlotte Hirons and Hannah Cornish put the brakes on any attempted attacks by Taunton. However, just before half time, smart manoeuvres produced a goal for Lauren Plant leaving the score at 2:0. The second half saw Minehead refuelled as they continued their assault on the Taunton goal. Speeding up play, Lauren Plant moved the ball along the back line leading to her next goal.

Then there was a super strike for Amy Tisshaw from the edge of the D which she placed just inside the left post for her 2nd goal. Neat passing from Morgan Cooper put Harriet Mitchell in the perfect place to score Minehead’s 5th goal. Rebecca Orpin, Wendy Daughtrey and Kate Lancaster created several attacks down the left wing culminating in shots on goal. Minehead really put the pedal to the metal and one final run resulted in a hattrick for Amy Tisshaw, ending the scoring at 6:0.

The Dave Bailey School of Motoring player of the match was Lauren Plant whose great goals and strong interplay drove Minehead to another convincing win.
