WATCHET Town have closed the gap on leaders Staplegrove following their 4-1 away win over struggling Castle Cary in Division One of the Uhlsport Somerset County Football League yesterday afternoon (Sat).

The seasiders are now only five points behind Grove - with two games in hand.

After the sides were level at 1-1 at half time, Watchet looked the much stronger team in the second half against the division's bottom side and scored three goals without reply. Scorers for Watchet were Adam Jefferies, who netted twice, and Billy Jones - and there was also an own goal.

Minehead's first team were without a game but Minehead Reserves were 6-0 home winners over Bridgwater & Albion.

Meanwhile, Minehead have a crucial home game against the Grove this coming weekend.
