WE HAD had just five runners in recent days but have added to our winner’s tally and are now on eight for the season - thanks to Thetype Istitle winning on stable debut at Stratford last week.

She was a recent recruit from the Irish point to point field and it was lovely for her to go and do on the racecourse what she shows us at home. Rian Corcoran gave her an intelligent front running ride, dictating the pace and then quickening things up as they turned for home and she was not for catching, winning with her ears pricked.

It was particularly nice for her owner Rob as this was his first ever winner. He has only been involved in a couple of horses before and has had some placings but this was great for him to be there and celebrate this win, hopefully the first of many!

Our horses continue in good form; Best Night ran her usual honest race to be third at Stratford and we may look to step her up in trip going forwards. Similar comments apply to Purple Owl who again ran well to be fourth at Worcester and he may appreciate a little further next time.

Show Your Hand was just creeping into contention in his race at Worcester when Jack Tudor thought something went amiss with our four-year-old and pulled him up. Thankfully its seems to have been a false alarm and he is fine since the race. Masterius backed up his good debut bumper run to be third at Market Rasen. He wasn’t beaten far again and looks capable of winning a similar contest, perhaps on a more galloping track.

Our first runner of this week will be Karnaval Point at Uttoxeter on Tuesday and Rian Corcoran rides. He has just the two starts for us since arriving from France and after winning on stable debut at Worcester he ran another good race to be a close third at this track last time off a nine-pound higher mark.

There is not a lot of jumps racing this week but we then have entries at Worcester on Friday which includes Captain Boudet, Bashful Boy, Best Night and Mancero who all could run.

On Saturday we have made an entry on the flat for Affection who finished third on course and distance on stable debut last month. She did well enough on hurdling debut at Newton Abbot last time and she will continue to mix both on the coming weeks.

On Sunday we have entries at Perth for new recruit Ras Kassar and Grand Clermont who could head up there for the staying handicap chase. Keep checking the Daily News on the website for all the news on the stable runners.

It doesn’t seem like five minutes ago the winter horses were going on their summer holidays and they are now nearly coming in! We have started riding some from the field and getting them going on the horse walker as well so they can enjoy a bit more of the sunshine before the hard work begins!

We are lucky to be having the same full complement of staff as last season so we have a nice mixture of youth and experience and there is lots to look forward to in the winter ahead.
