The Endurance GB International Committee has announced that Amanda Hamley from Wheddon Cross has been selected to represent England at the Home International Endurance Championships.

The Home International Endurance Championship is a highly anticipated annual competition that brings together teams from England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland to showcase their equestrian prowess.

Amanda Hamley, from the Wessex Endurance Group, started endurance riding in 2018 and enjoys the sport with her two horses, More Salutes and Lady, who she will be partnering in Hampshire to take on the two-day 86km (43km Saturday and 43km Sunday).

Lady is 15yr old Standardbred who has had an impressive endurance career. This year alone, she has completed several successful 80km rides, one being the Cairngorms 100 ‘50 miler’– where she won First Past the Post.

More Salutes is a 10yr old former racehorse. He was selected for the team in 2024, where they travelled to Kilkeney in Ireland and helped bring home the coveted trophy, with More Salutes winning his 60km class and England winning the overall championship.

Ms Hamley said: “I can’t believe how lucky we have been to be selected for the England Team again. I’m so proud of both my horses for having been asked to represent our country over the past two years, with this year being Lady’s turn to help bring that trophy home again.

“I brought Lady as 6yr old and never did I dream that one day we’d be riding for England. It really is a dream come true!

Maggie Pattinson, the Chef d’Equipe of the England squad, said: “We are delighted with our final team. With such a huge pool of talent to choose from, the selection wasn’t easy.

“We have every confidence in the squad’s ability to take on the challenge, particularly with such established combinations to represent us.”
