A TOTAL of 110 golfers took part in a Medal Competition for the “Gardner Cup” at Oake Manor Golf Club on Saturday which was presented to the club by Russell Gardner, the inaugural golf professional. The clear winner was Zak Whitaker who scored an incredible nett 61, ten shots under par.

In division 1 the winner was Jamie Tong nett 67, Jack Jones came second with nett 69 while Neil Hallett was third with nett 72.

Gareth Nation won division 2, scoring nett 65 with Mark Mitchell in second place, also nett 65 and Tim Gamlin third with nett 68. The Gardner Cup winner Zak Whitaker won division 3 with nett 61 while Paul Hughes was second with nett 69 and Barry Roberts was third with nett 70.

On Sunday the club held their annual Mixed Greensomes Competition for the “Pattemore Cup” which was presented to the club by Ann and David Pattemore in 1994. The winners were Tamsin St George and Richard Clist who scored 39 points. In second place were Jane Clist and Jim Greenhow who also scored 39 points but missed out on countback. Bev King and Barry Roberts were third with 38 points.

David Wheeler was nearest the pin on the 10th hole for the men while Jill Loader was nearest the pin on the 14th hole for the ladies. After play the competitors all enjoyed a delicious Oake Manor meal where Mary Beakes, ladies captain, presented the prizes.

Mitchell Couryer won the Sunday Stableford Competition with 36 points with Ian Nott in second place, also with 36 points, while Paul Monday came third with 35 points.

Paul Plowman won the Wednesday Midweek Stableford Competition with an excellent score of 43 points while Martin Adams was second with 40 points and Samuel Turner came third, also with 40 points.
