SIMON Greaves was the clear winner of the Oake Manor Golf Club Sunday Stableford Competition. Simon scored a total of 43 points, which was five points clear of Paul Coleman who was in second place with 38 points while Ian Nott, a former goalkeeper with Wellington and Tiverton Town, came third with 35 points.

In the Ladies Sunday Stableford Competition it was a much closer competition with Suzanne Ward winning with 35 points and Kathy Salway coming a close second with 34 points while Jane Clist was third with 29 points.

The Seniors played an ”Order of Merit” Stableford Competition on Monday. The first six players all scored 35 points but on countback in division 1 John Matravers was the winner, Andy Stevenson came in second and Richard Crouch was in third spot.

Alan Ashby was first in division 2 with 35 points, while Angus Mather came in second, also with 35 points, while Bernard Reed was in third place with 34 points.

In the Ladies Tuesday Ladies Easter Hen Trott Stableford Competition where the winners receive Easter eggs which are given by the Ladies captain Mary Beakes, Pam Akers was in first place with 36 points while Kate Foster was second with 35 points and Pepita Verge came third also with 35 points.

In the Wednesday Midweek Stableford Competition, Paul Flay was the winner with 32 points, Brett Rogers was second with 31 points while Neil Blackmore camethird with 29 points.

Regular competitions are now in full swing following the wet and dreary start to the New Year which meant it was very difficult for the club to stage some competitions - much to the disappointment of members. Golf is like many other outdoor sports which have to rely on the weather with the likes of rugby and football being very much affected.
