SOMERSET’S three day pre-season match against Glamorgan at the Cooper Associates County Ground in Taunton ended in a draw.

Batting first Somerset’s top order struggled and they slipped to 125 for seven before an eighth wicket partnership between Jack Leach (47) and Craig Overton (46) added 93, to help the total onto 223 all out.

By end of play on day one the visitors had reached 72 for one in reply, Asa Tribe (13) being bowled by Alfie Ogborne.

The second day was dominated by the Glamorgan batters which included a century from the former Ciderman Eddie Byrom who retired on 104 before they eventually declared on 369 for seven - a lead of 146.

By close of play Somerset had reached 81 for the loss of Josh Thomas, Tom Kohler Cadmore and James Rew, trailing by 65. Tom Abell and Tom Lammonby brought up the 50 partnership for the fourth wicket from 82 balls shortly before they took their side to three figures from the opening ball of the 29th over.

Lammonby reached his half century from 82 balls and began to accelerate, bringing up the 100 partnership from 142 balls and taking Somerset to 150 in the 36th over.

While his partner at the crease became increasingly expansive, Abell continued to accumulate his runs at a steadier pace and a glorious drive off Douthwaite saw him reach his 50 from 83 balls.

Lammonby’s 100 arrived from 107 balls with his second 50 coming from just 25 deliveries to emphasise the quickening of his strike rate.

Lammonby retired out on 118 and Abell went on to make 84 before he was caught and Somerset were 256.

Craig Overton went to his 50 with three consecutive sixes off Tribe, and with the score on 331 for seven, and Overton on 56, the players shook hands.
