MINEHEAD and West Somerset Golf Club Seniors started off their week by playing a ‘reverse waltz’ competition.

With the expected wind picking up during the morning, conditions nevertheless did not deter the winning team of Mark Ruttley, Tim Evans and Neville Parsons from a decisive victory when scoring 70 points.

Second place went to Mark Watson, John Burrow and Roger Green with 65 points with Steve Gay, Tony Connolly and Nigel Trevelyan finishing third with 62 points.

Round 3 of the Marshall Cup was played on Friday in perfect golfing weather. Despite the favourable conditions, the rapid growth in the rough managed to hamper one or two otherwise good scores.

Dave Oatridge kept the ball on the straight and narrow winning with an excellent nett score of 69. Second place on countback went to Mark Watson with a nett 72, ahead of Rob Poirrier in third place also with nett 72.
