COMPETITIONS at Oake Manor Golf Club are now back in full swing after the wettest winter on record, writes Peter Swann.
The first three players in the Club Saturday Stableford Competition all scored 35 points but on countback Vic Burgos was the winner, while Nathan Pepperall came second and Ian Loader was third.
Callum Vernon scored an excellent 38 points to win the Club Sunday Stableford Competition with Michael Tourle coming second with 36 points while Michael Bright was third with 35 points.
The Seniors section played a “Three Clubs and a Putter” Stableford Competition over 14 holes on Monday. The winner was Andy Stevenson with 25 points while in second place was Nigel Haigh with 24 points and Ian Hockey came third with 23 points.
After the competition the Seniors held their Annual General Meeting and Prize Giving where the 2025 Seniors Captain Mike Amos handed over to the 2026 Captain Nick Mitchell.
Richard Barker won the Wednesday Midweek Stableford Competition with 34 points, Sam Prior came second also with 34 points but losing on countback while Owen Irish was third with 29 points.
The Ladies played Social Golf on Tuesday before holding their Annual General Meeting and Prize Giving where 2026 Ladies Captain Mary Beakes congratulated out going Ladies Captain Daphne Priddy on her excellent year as Ladies Captain.
Daphne responded by wishing Mary good luck for the coming year. Also in attendance was Club Captain Richard Goodman who thanked the Ladies for all their effort during the year to raise more than £5,000 towards their Captains Charity which has raised over £50,000 during the year for Children’s Hospice South West.
