THE Gardner Cup Medal at Oake Manor Golf Club drew a strong field of 73 players. There was some excellent golf and competitive scoring throughout the day.

Freddie Elgin, playing off a handicap of one, produced a truly standout round, finishing first with a superb nett 63. His performance not only secured the win but also saw him equal the course record. And if this was not enough, he also recorded a hole in one on the tenth - a remarkable achievement.

There was a close battle for the remaining top spots with several players posting strong scores. Top results: Freddie Elgin nett 63, Richard Clist nett 68, Graham Salway nett 68, Mark Rollinson nett 69, Gary Tillett nett 69.

The Sunday Medal was again well supported with 79 golfers playing. Mark Gladstone-Smith won Division One with nett 65, Sam Hallett was second with nett 68 while Michael Tourle came third with nett 69.

Alexander Male was the overall winner, coming first in Division Two with nett 64, Graeme Gladstone-Smith was second with nett 68 and John Symonds was third with nett 69.

The Seniors played a Stableford on Monday for the John Robbins Cup. Jonathan Shepherd won the cup with 41 points, second in Division Two was Terry Brown with 37 points while Geoffrey Medicott was third with 35 points. Steve Cross was the Division One winner with 40 points, Dave Lewis came second with 39 points while Michael Speed third with 38 points.

In the Wednesday Midweek Stableford Harry Forknall won Division One with 37 points . In second place, also with 37 points but losing on countback, was Ashley Gaines and James Symonds was third with 36 points. Dave Jewell won Division Two with the best score of the day of 38 points, Kevin Burt came second with 37 points while Keiran Wyatt third with 35 points.
