THE seniors section at Minehead and West Somerset Golf Club played a Texas Scramble on Wednesday, which saw ten teams taking part.
The competition was very keenly contested and when all of the teams had returned to the clubhouse only three points separated them.
Two teams returned with 63 points, so count back had to come into play following which first place went to the winning trio of Rob Poirrier, Bob Arthington and Tim Evans, just in front of Doug Hayhoe, Dave Ball and Graham Stone. Third place also had to be decided on countback after which it was Mark Ruttley, Paul Thompson and Nick Garman who edged it with 64 points.
Friday saw the Minehead Seniors playing a 4BBB medal competition when, fortunately, the anticipated bad weather did not materialize and did not deter a full entry from taking part.
At the end of the round Mark Watson and Tony Connolly took the honours, carding a nett 69 and winning on countback from Graham Stone and Doug Hayhoe. Third place, with nett 71, was claimed by the pairing of Dave Walmsley and Dave Ball.
Meanwhile, the Enmore Park Ladies Section played a team Bowmaker over the front 9 holes of the course on Wednesday, at the end of which the winners with 35 points were a trio comprising of Wendy Walker, Joan Dovey and Ruth MacLennan.
Two teams returned to the clubhouse with 34 points, but after count back In second place were Chris Lewis, Betty Edney and Sue Hales, just in front of Janet Waplington, Shanni Whisler, Jo Wyatt and Susan Hockley
Tim O’ Sullivan with 39 points was the clear winner of the Inter-Avalon B and New Members Stableford on Saturday with 39 points, six points ahead of Kyle Winzar with 33, while Bill Boulter came third on 32.
