THE final of the Luttrell Cup internal knockout competition was played at Minehead and West Somerset Golf Club.
In this the winner of the ladies’ section plays the winner of the men’s. This year was a toughly fought battle between Anne Olgesby and Glenn Ross. The match was tied after 18 holes with Anne ultimately being victorious on the 19th hole. Anne first won this same competition 27 years ago!
The Thursday competition for the ladies’ section was a ‘Purple Tee Stableford’. The purple tees are new and forward of the traditional red tees for the ladies.
Ginnette Bowyer (20) won with 36 points who performed better on the back nine to win on countback from Nancy Marshall (9), also on 36 points. Third was Claire Hayhoe (39) on 32 points.
The following Thursday saw an unusual ‘medalford’ competition. 1st nine holes medal format; second nine Stableford. Ruth MacClennan won the event, with Kay Luckett finishing runner-up.
