STEPHEN Chalke, author and editor of Footprints - David Foot's lifetime of writing - will be carrying out a book signing session during the lunchtime break on the first day of Somerset's Championship game against Kent at Taunton next Tuesday.

David, who died in 2021 at the age of 92, was born and grew up at East Coker near Yeovil and went onto become one of the most interesting and well respected journalists and authors of his time, writing with passion and insight about a range of subjects but mainly sport and particularly cricket.

His most acclaimed book was Harold Gimblett - Tormented Genius of Cricket - which was well ahead of its time in dealing with the mental agony that the local hero endured for much of his life.

Footprints will be a welcome addition to any Somerset fan's bookshelf and will be good company until the next season comes around!
