LAST Friday saw Dunster First School host the West Somerset Sports Association’s Annual Football Gala.

Some 60 children from first schools across West Somerset met together to take part in an end of season four-a-side indoor tournament.

The schools taking part were Cutcombe, Exford, Dunster, Minehead , Old Cleeve, St Dubricius’ in Porlock, St Michael’s in Minehead, St Peter’s in Williton and Timberscombe.

At the end of the gala, association chairman Marcus Capel congratulated the teams on the high standard of play and good sportsmanship before presenting all of the children who took part with a certificate.

“It was another wonderful gala with so much good football on show,” he said.

“I would like to thank all of the schools for their commitment to providing inter-school sporting opportunities for the children of West Somerset.”

The West Somerset Sports Association provides a range of competitive sporting opportunities throughout the year for children in the district with the three main annual events being the football gala, a catchball gala and area sports (athletics).
