WATCHET Saints defied the gales when they travelled to Manchester last week where they spent three days and took part in a mini-tournament at the end of which they brought the cup back to West Somerset.

In their opening game Saints beat Hattersley FC 5-4 - thanks to two goals from Tyler Pittman and one each from Raphael Manu, Alfie Worth before goalkeeper Finlay Penny scored the winner.

The second match against Dukinfield Youth FC ended in a 1-1 draw with the Saints goal coming from Tyler Pittman after which it went to penalties which the Watchet side won 4-2. Finlay Penny won the Player of the Tournament award.

In addition to playing football the Saints’ 33 strong party enjoyed a coaching session with one of the Manchester City Academy coaches. They then went on a tour of Old Trafford, the home of Manchester United and also went swimming and ten pin bowling.

This was a very special never to be forgotten trip for the Watchet Saints party of players and adults.
