MINEHEAD’s manager Lee Todd admits he is not happy with the way the fixtures have fallen for his side in the first division of the Uhlsport Somerset County Football League.

Minehead will have gone 28 days without a league game when they play away to Sporting Weston on Saturday, January 17.

“I cannot understand how we can be without a game for so long,” said Todd who took charge of the seasiders towards the end of November. “The problem I have is keeping the players match-fit.

“I can arrange friendlies and extra training but it is not the same as playing competitive matches. It is going to be a very difficult spell for us.”

Looking back on his short time as manager, he added: “I have been pleased with the way things have gone. Our three defeats have been against good sides.”

“Obviously, there is room for improvement and this is something we will be looking to achieve in the second half of the season.

“I’m always looking to make new signings - but this is difficult to do during this time of the season. I would like to think we will eventually finish sixth or seventh in the table.”

Meanwhile, Watchet Town continue their run of home games in the Premier Division when they play against promotion-chasing Chilcompton Sports at the Memorial Ground on Saturday, January 3 (2p.m.).

Watchet have spent the entire season at the bottom of the table and will obviously be looking to improve their position in the New Year.
