PORLOCK Ladies hit the road on Sunday July 27 for a friendly fixture against Street, where they would take a 2-1 victory.
They fielded a solid starting 11: Hannah in goal; a defensive line of Kirsty, Amber, Lauren, and Sarah; Georgia Perkins and Liz holding strong in central midfield; Aimee and Kayleigh on the wings; and Briony Smith and Kez leading the attack.
The game kicked off with intensity, and Street came out pressing hard, especially down Porlock’s left side. Their frequent long balls over the middle kept the Porlock defence on high alert, with Hannah pulling off some vital touches in goal.
Despite the pressure, Porlock remained composed and showed great teamwork, using effective triangle play to retain possession.After 30 minutes, Liz made a breakthrough with a brilliant strike from the edge of the box, putting Porlock 1-0 up. The team continued to battle hard, keeping Street at bay through disciplined defending and coordinated play.
The second half started with a slightly sluggish rhythm for Porlock, and Street took advantage. 15 minutes in, they levelled the score with a superb goal chipped over the top — just brushing the fingertips of the diving Porlock keeper.With the game intensifying, changes were made in the Porlock backline.
Christina stepped in for Amber at left back, bringing calm and order to the defence. Her strong communication and ball-winning ability helped the team regain stability.Later in the half, Amber returned to left back while Christina shifted to right back.
These changes paid off as Porlock regained control and pushed forward. With just five minutes to go, Kez sealed the win with a stunning shot into the top right corner — a goal worthy of the victory.
Kayleigh Campbell-Farmer was awarded the player of the match award due to her relentless work rate and providing strong coverage across the pitch for Porlock.
