MINEHEAD gained a splendid 8-0 away victory over Wellington Town in their penultimate game of the season in Division One of the Under 15 section in the HO Soccer Taunton & District Youth Football League.
The result leaves them three points clear in ninth place in the 16-team division.
Minehead took the lead in the 11th minute when Aaron Parker headed home and doubled their lead on 20 minutes with Casey Paxton shooting low and hard in the bottom corner.
Minehead lost Gabriel James with an injury towards the end of the half and Ethan Coburn replaced him up front.
Paxton scored his second of the afternoon on 33 minutes before he completed his hat-trick to make it 4-0 while Charlie Bonar scored direct from a corner for the visitors’ fifth just before the interval.
Wellington enjoyed a spell when they did not concede before Parker followed up a rebound to tuck home for goal number six.
Young Parker completed his hat-trick after Reggis High pinged a delightful through ball to his teammate who still had plenty to do before he made it 7-0.
Minehead continued their dominence and their eighth goal came when Paxton played the ball into Theo Arkell who netted his customary headed goal to make it 8-0.
Minehead’s players of the match were Charlie Bonar, Ollie Tisbury and Aaron Parker.
Minehead will look back on the game which saw two hat-tricks, a clean sheet and an all round composed display.
Minehead’s defence was particularly solid - much better than early in the season, showing how much the team has developed over the winter. Which is a credit not only to the players but the coaches.
Next up for Minehead is their final game of the season when they play at home against Isle of Wedmore who will provide a stern test for the seasiders.
