SUNDAY saw Minehead Under 15s lose 3-2 away to Wembdon.
Despite having no outfield substitutes, this was a game Minehead would have hoped to win, but the game started as the previous week’s had, with them conceding two goals in the first five minutes.
Wembdon began strongly and only an excellent header off the line from Ryan Doyle and subsequent save from Jari High kept the score from being 3-0 in the first few minutes.
But from then on Minehead dominated, with 14 shots on target in the first half alone.
Ben Wyatt hit the upright, Cameron March’s free-kick was tipped over the bar by the keeper and Cody Truscott had a goal disallowed by a dubious offside decision before Minehead eventually scored from a looping Cody Truscott free-kick.
The second half began with a Minehead equaliser when Charlie Merson played a ball through to Cameron March on the wing and his cross was stroked in by Ben Wyatt.
Minehead continued to press but Wembdon regained the lead from a penalty.
There were no complaints about the decision, but Minehead were mystified as to why they weren’t awarded a penalty shortly afterwards when Harvey Webber was brought down in the box.
They continued to press but were unable to find another equaliser.
Despite feeling that decisions went against them, Minehead still should have won the game and will need to bounce back in their next fixture.
Minehead U15s: Sam Cook, Jari High, Ben Williams, Ewan Jones-Bartlett, Cody Truscott, Ryan Doyle, Harvey Webber, Charlie Merson, Ellis Bone, Cameron March, Ben Wyatt, Ethan Palmer.
