MINEHEAD remain in the relegation zone in the first division of the Uhlsport Somerset County Football League after losing 5-1 away to new leaders Paulton Rovers Sports on Saturday, October 24.

Minehead are second from bottom after losing their fifth game in eight matches, with only Watchet Town below them.

Minehead scored first at Paulton when Olly Prescott netted with a good shot after 20 minutes but they found themselves 2-1 down at the interval.

“They scored two more goals early in the second half and that was it” said Minehead boss Lee Todd afterwards.

“They are a good side but we contributed to our own downfall. All five goals could have been avoided. We were still in the game at half time.

“Until now we have not been beaten heavily - it’s been mostly by the odd goal here and there. But I’m positive our luck will change.

“I’d be worried if we were not creating scoring chances. We are and we could have been two or three goals up at Paulton before they scored.

Paulton, who have dropped only three points in ten games, are one-point clear of second-placed Peasedown Miners Welfare who were held to a 1-1 away draw by Wrington Redhill.
