BUDDING young footballer Briony Smith was recently presented with her FA Junior Leadership Award.

Briony, who is 13 and attends Minehead Middle School, gained the first part of her award when she attended a residential football camp at King’s College in Taunton last summer.

Since then she has undertaken the voluntary activity aspect of the leadership award and received her certificate at a school assembly from Christopher Heayns, head of football at King’s.

As well as tackling the award during the summer camp, Briony also improved her football skills and had the chance to learn more about the professional game and the careers available.

“Briony had a great time at the residential camp last summer and it was a great pleasure to be able to go and make the presentation to her at Minehead Middle School recently,” said Mr Heayns.
