ALCOMBE Rovers gave their supporters plenty to cheer about as they cruised to a 4–0 victory against Norton Fitzwarren in their first home game of the season in Division One of the Taunton & District Saturday League - a result that lifts spirits after a difficult week at the club.

The tone was set almost immediately when, inside two minutes, Cam Thompson whipped in a precise pass for Barker to convert and hand Rovers the dream start.

With momentum firmly on their side, the lead was doubled on 15 minutes as Nathan Collins showed composure and vision, lifting a superb chip over the visiting goalkeeper.

Nathan was not done there. He struck again after the restart to claim his second of the afternoon, putting the game beyond doubt with a clinical finish. The scoring was rounded off in style by Mike Graddon, who drove forward and slotted home from 20 yards to make it 4–0 and seal a dominant display.

Rovers defended resolutely when tested but always looked in control, their early intensity and sharp finishing proving too much for the opposition.

The Man of the Match, sponsored by Fat Chops Barber Shop, was a close call but deservedly went to Nathan Collins, whose brace and all-round performance led the team to an emphatic victory.

A huge thank you go to the club’s match day sponsor Nicholls & Son’s Plumbing, as well as the club sponsors Bar 21 and Fitness Station for their continued support.

With three points secured and confidence restored, Alcombe Rovers will look to carry this momentum into this coming Saturday, September 27, when they have another home fixture against the early leaders Bridgwater sports who are 100 per cent.

In other matches in the first division, Nether Stowey pulled off a 2-1 home success against Wembdon Reserves while Racehorse Rovers were 3-1 home winners over North Curry.
