WEST Somerset College’s under 18 squash team gained their first win of the season at home to Blundells School last Wednesday, winning 4-1.
That followed a narrow defeat by St Edwards Oxford in the National Cup.
The young college team have real potential and a victory over Blundells School, which has a rich squash tradition, is rare.
Results: Josh Heath lost 8-11, 11-5, 14-16, 7-11; Jack Waterman won 11-3, 11-3, 11-2; Samir Abraham won 11-2, 11-3, 11-3; Josh Heath won 11-4, 11-3, 11-5; and William Hawker won 11-3, 11-4, 11-5.
A number of friendlies have also been played in which there were wins for Ollie Jones, Ben Forster and Guy Howes. Ryan Mapledoram also played his first ever competitive match.
The team’s next match is at home to Kings College Taunton.
