THE Captain's Winter 4 Ball Competition at Minehead & West Somerset Golf Club has been completed.

Played over six rounds, each pair were awarded points for their finishing position per round; the winning pair achieving the best aggregate score over their four best rounds. Somewhat fortuitously, over the designated dates for each round the weather held fair; the final round being played in sunshine.

Stepping onto the tee for the final round the pairing of Greg Hawker and Tom Gliddon held top spot, but as the round unfolded, three pairs were in contention.

The momentum began to turn on the seventh hole when David Farmer, who was playing with Warren Knight, made a birdie with a stroke for four points.

The outcome and 2024 winners were Warren Knight and David Farmer by one point over the second-place pairing of Craig Walsh and Luke Taylor who were left ruing several missed putts. Third position went to Greg Hawker and Tom Gliddon who could not quite manage the heights of previous rounds.

Last year’s defending champions Dave Hillier and Chris Durman finished in style by winning the final round with an excellent 46 points Stableford.

The Captain, Bob Arthington presented the trophy and thanked everyone for participating with a special thank you for John Bickerton (Club Professional) for accompanying him in every round helping to raise valuable funds for the Captain’s Charity Elliots Touch.
