THE countdown is on to one of the UK's most prestigious cycling events, with entries now open for the 2026 RTTC National Hill Climb Championship, hosted by Minehead Cycling Club on the iconic Porlock Toll Road.

Taking place on Sunday, October 25, the National Championship will see Britain's best hill climbers descend on West Somerset to compete for national titles on one of the country's most celebrated hill climb courses.

The 4.1 mile ascent of Porlock Toll Road, climbing almost 357 metres through Exmoor National Park, is renowned for its spectacular scenery, consistent gradients and challenging finish. Hosting the National Championships is a landmark moment for Minehead Cycling Club and reflects the club's long standing contribution to competitive cycling.

With entries now open, the club is encouraging riders from across the UK to secure their place and experience one of the highlights of the domestic cycling calendar.

For those looking to familiarise themselves with the championship course beforehand, Minehead Cycling Club will also host its popular Porlock Hill Double Header on 20 September. Featuring both the famous Porlock Main Road climb and the National Championship course on the Porlock Toll Road, the event provides an ideal opportunity for competitors to experience the route under race conditions. Steve Crossman, Club Chairman, said: "We're incredibly proud to be hosting the RTTC National Hill Climb Championship and to welcome riders from across Great Britain to West Somerset. Porlock Toll Road is one of the country's classic climbs and we're looking forward to seeing the very best riders take on the challenge."
