JT LANGRIDGE claimed an eight-wicket haul and Savin Perera scored an unbeaten 157 as Somerset beat their Nottinghamshire counterparts by 29 runs in the Second XI Championship.
After being asked to bat first at the Lady Bay Sports Ground the Somerset openers Bertie Michael and Perera added 66 together before the latter was out for 35.
Michael and Will Smeed then added 63 for the second wicket when Michael was out for 60 which he scored off 94 balls with 10 fours.
Johnny Connell then hit 33 before Somerset slumped from 194 for 4 to 213 all out, as right arm off spinner Fraham Ahmed claimed 5 for 46.
When the home side replied they were bowled out for 131 in 37.1 overs, Langridge the pick of the attack claiming 5 for 50 from 12 overs, one of which was a maiden, while James Theedom took 2 for 26 off 8.1 with two maidens and left arm spinner Harvey Richards 2 for 15 from 8, with one maiden.
Batting for a second time Michael and Perera added 188 for the first wicket before Michael was dismissed for 94 which came off 135 deliveries with 13 fours.
Smeed joined Perera and added 64 for the second wicket before he was out for 33.
Perera remained at the wicket to help Somerset to 348 for 5 in 80 overs, before the visitors declared by which time he had taken his score onto 157 not out off 230 deliveries with 16 fours and one 6.
Chasing a target of 431 for victory, Notts batted a lot better in the second innings but in the end they were bowled out for 401 in 81.3 overs, Theedom ending with 4 for 65 off 14.3 overs, while Langridge finished with 3 for 81 from 20, six of which were maidens.
