AFTER all of the excitement and pre-season build up the weather put paid to all but one of the Minehead Cricket Club’s sides completing any of their fixtures.
The only team to play a match were the Under 13s at Taunton St Andrews on Friday evening where the hosts posted 151 without loss in their 20 overs, in reply to which MCC reached 54 for 9.
In the Premier Division of the Somerset Cricket League, Minehead First XI were away to North Petherton who, batting first, reached 99 for 4 from the 23 overs before the onset of bad weather.
Tom Williams made an unbeaten 53 while Dan Bowditch ended with 2 wickets for 9 runs while Harry Tudball claimed one for 25 and Anan Rajan one for 23.
This Saturday, May 9, the Pirates senior side entertain Lympsham and Belvedere and then on Monday evening they are away against Taunton Deane Seconds in the first round of the SCF Intermediate Cup competition.
In Division Three of the SCL MCC Second XI posted 117 for three at Wiveliscombe, of which Braden Taylor made 45 and Dan Parsons 47 while for the home side Elliot Adu Darko took 2 for 18.
This weekend the Seconds are away against North Curry First XI.
In Division Three of the West Somerset Cricket League Minehead Thirds made the short trip to play against near neighbours Carhampton who after choosing to bat slumped to 49 for 8 in 27 overs, before the game was abandoned. For the visitors Nicholas Maggs ended with 3 for 16 and Renjeesh Krishnan took 2 for 8.
This coming Saturday the Minehead Third XI are at home to Stoodleigh.
On Friday evening the Under 13s (11 a side) are away against Taunton Deane, while on Sunday the Under 11s are in action away at North Petherton
