IN COMMON with many other local cricket clubs, Minehead’s pre-season match against Wellington, which was due to be played last Saturday, fell victim to the weather and the game was called off in the morning.

The local league season begins in earnest on Saturday, May 3, when Minehead First XI travel to play against Taunton Deane Second XI in the Premier Division of the Somerset Cricket League.

Minehead Second XI also start their season with an away trip to face Spaxton CC in Division Three of the Somerset Cricket League, while Minehead Third XI are at home to Ashbrittle Second XI in Division Three of the West Somerset Cricket League.

Before then. on Friday 2nd May, Minehead Under 11s start the season off with an 11 a side game away to Taunton Deane. On Sunday 4th May the Under 11s are at home to Trull.

All Stars Cricket, which provides non-stop fun for all children aged 5-8 years old, begins at Minehead CC on Thursday 8th May and runs from 5.30-7.30pm for five weeks. To find out more Email: [email protected] or phone 07853898231.

Meanwhile, Kilve Cricket Club, whose ground is situated at the end of Sea Lane (TA5 1EG), are launching a Ladies Softball team open to anyone over the age of 13 and are holding their first training session this evening Friday 25th April starting at 6pm

This is a fun, supportive and welcoming environment that gives the perfect opportunity to get to know other women in the local community with the added bonus of a little bit of fitness thrown in.

No experience or equipment is needed so why not pop along to Kilve Cricket Club down by the sea where a warm welcome awaits and find out what it’s all about.
