MINEHEAD Second XI were in Somerset Cricket League Division Three action on Saturday afternoon when they hosted North Curry First XI, who came away with a four-wicket victory.
Minehead chose to bat and lost three early wickets before opener Andy Stevens was joined by skipper Charlie Payne. The experienced pair rallied the situation and took the total onto 88 when Payne was leg before to Cherry for 37.
Stevens was then joined by Braden Taylor and together the fifth wicket pair saw the three figures onto the scoreboard but, after adding 57 together but with the total on 145, Taylor was bowled for 38. Lewis Goodrum came into join Stevens and the pair added 35 before the new batter was out for 21.
Oliver Groves was out for 14 and Rob Spiers ended not out 14 as Minehead finished on 212 for seven, Stevens carrying his bat to remain unbeaten on 69 off 98 balls with eight 4s.
When North Curry replied they were given a good start by their openers who took the total onto 69 when George Webber was run out by Groves for 36. There was further joy for the home side when Sam Mould was bowled by Taylor for four with the total on 77.
Opener Rupert Baverstock and Sam Robinson then shared a fourth wicket partnership of 109 together before Robinson was out for 45, caught Taylor off Groves.
Without further addition Chris Cherry perished bowled by Groves, and when he accounted for Jason Harris, caught by ‘keeper Jonah Hopkins and when Wrangham was run out by Rajan, , North Curry were wobbling at 194 for six.
However Baverstock went to his century ending unbeaten on 103 from 127 balls, with 18 fours, to see North Curry to 214-6 off 38.4 overs.
Groves was the pick of the bowlers ending with three for 18.
