MINEHEAD will be looking to step up the pressure at the top of the Premier Division in the Somerset Cricket League when they play away to ninth-placed Butleigh on Saturday, June 20.

Having played seven matches, Minehead are in second place, only five points behind leaders Castle Cary, both sides having played the same number of games.

Minehead chalked up their fourth win of the season when they beat Shapwick and Polden away in a high-scoring game last weekend.

The home side scored an impressive 275-7 in their 45 overs with J Luckins hitting 131 in 94 minutes, with 11 fours and six sixes. Harry Tudball took 2-29.

Opener Freddie Wilson steered Minehead to victory with a knock of 95, which included eight sixes, while Josh Hurley was 49 not out and Dan Bowditch hit 41.

Castle Cary have a tough away game against Lympsham & Belvedere, who are lying third in the table, with the same number of points as Minehead.

Wiveliscombe, lying fifth in the same division, are away to Middlezoy who are in eighth place.

Wiveliscombe gained a fine 45-run home win over Bishops Hull last weekend - their third success of the season.

Richard Morrison scored 138 for Wiveliscombe in a score of 237-4 in their 40 overs before bowling out the home side for 192 with Morrison the star of the show with figures of 5-17. Jacob Tyson was Bishops Hull’s top batter with 70 while James Hayward took 2-37.
