CUTCOMBE beat top of the table Bishops Hull by six wickets in the third division of the West Somerset Cricket League.
It means that Cutcombe are now the new leaders of the division while the Taunton side slipped back to second place. Bishops Hull, who decided to bat first, must have regretted their decision as they slumped to 114 all out with Jake Nichol being top scorer with 19.
James Gregory was almost unplayable for Cutcombe, taking 5-10 in nine overs while Harry Pursey took 2-22. Opener Mike Kidner was 50 not out as Cutcombe knocked off the runs in the 29th over.
Ashbrittle’s second string came unstuck at Hemyock where they lost by seven wickets. Ashbrittle were bowled out for exactly 100 with Chris Hill (29) and Rob Popplestone (36) being the only batsmen to make double figures. Jimmy Adams, Adam Welch and Shish Kumar all picked up two wickets.
Opener Jalal Ahmed was 64 not out, hitting ten boundaries, as the Devon side won in the 21st over with Steve Priscott snapping up 3-27.
Minehead 3rd XI won the only other match in the division, beating Stoodleigh by eight wickets. Matt Shaw hit 59 in Stoodleigh’s 139-9 with Adithyan Rajan taking 4-23 and Harry Swan 3-29. Vishnu Kombath (73) and Henry Murrell (39 not out) were Minehead’s leading run makers as the seasiders strolled to a comfortable victory.
Only one match was played in the fourth division with Buckland St Mary winning by 113 runs against Over Stowey Seconds.
Buckland piled up a score of 249-2 in their 40 overs with C Liyanagamage leading the spree with 92. S Morris scored 57 not out and P Every 46 not out while R Kallaway scored 32.
Stowey were bowled out for 136 with P Endersby taking 3-18 and Liyanagamage 3-28.
Wiveliscombe conceded their game against Roadwater.
