KILVE made it two wins from two matches when they beat East Huntspill by six wickets at home in the first division of the West Somerset Cricket League.
East Huntspill, put into bat, scored 189 in their 40 overs with Andrew Chedzey hitting 56, with ten fours, before being run out by Pete Stone.
Ollie Watt also scored 38 while Carl Clemenson led the bowling attack with 3-32 in eight overs, and Jay Darrell took 2-32 and Dean Marchent 2-28.
Clemenson was the star of the match, steering Kilve to victory with an unbeaten 103, which included 14 fours. Stone, opening the Kilve innings, hit 21, Jim Taylor 26 and Rio Rock 27 not out.
Bagborough also won their second match in eight days when they won by 28 runs at home to Over Stowey. Choosing to bat first, Bagborough made 157-9 in their 40 overs with B Jones (36) and I Eve (53) putting on 91 for the opening wicket. M Langlois took 4-9 in six overs and T Coleman 3-40 in nine overs.
Stowey never recovered from a poor start, losing three wickets for the addition of only 23 runs. S Thomas was their leading run-getter with 24 while Langlois was 20 not out.
Kilve and Bagborough are two points behind leaders Bridgetown who, after conceding the match against Ashbrittle the previous weekend, bounced back to beat Brompton Ralph by 161 runs at home.
Crowcombe have a four-point lead at the top of Division Two after they won by five wickets at home to Lydeard St Lawrence who were bowled out for 126 in 25.4 overs.
Lydeard slumped to 29-4 before B Meek (49) and C Vellacott (13) shared in a fifth-wicket stand of 57 runs. However they were the only Lydeard batters to hit double figures against the bowling of J Lewis (3-22), J Khattak (3-10), R Baker (2-26) and R White (2-29).
An opening partnership of 38 between T Ash (30) and J Newman (24) provided the basis for Crowcombe’s victory which was completed by Baker (12 not out) and White (20 not out). J Alford took 2-19 and Vellacott 2-19.
Churchinford, winners of their opening two matches did not play, while Roadwater gained their first victory of the season with an impressive eight-wicket home success against Stoke St Mary.
Winning the toss, Stoke batted first and scored 232-9 in their 40 overs with A Norie scoring 76 with six fours and five sixes. Opener D Batchelar scored a run-a-ball 39 while H Johnston was 28 not out.
Roadwater knocked off the runs in 29 overs with K Roberts being their star batter with 103 not out while opener M Bolton made 44 and A Bishop was 32 not out.
Sampford Arundel also won their first game of the season - beating Stogumber on their own ground by seven wickets. The visitors chose to bat first and made 144 all out with only Jake Watson (57), J Jenkins (18) and Ben Rexworthy (14) making double figures against the bowling of Ollie Buckingham (3-34), Keith Crockett (3-13), Will Fewings (2-32) and Will Crossley (2-34).
Crossley was also the key man with the bat, opening the Sampford innings and scoring 63, while Rob Chave scored 35 not out and Tobi Jenkins 17 not out. Sampford reached their target in 27-3 overs.
